Meditating with 6th Graders - Angela Grace

I work for the Healing Yoga Foundation, a non-profit in San Francisco that brings yoga to populations that may not have access to it. Recently, I taught at a middle school where 85% of the students receive free lunch and 57% of the students are English Language Learners (non-native speakers of English). Also, the teacher explained that two-thirds of the students in her classes have suffered trauma or hardship in their lives.

That class was not easy to teach! The students were rowdy and talked over me; there was little space to move; it was a really hot day,…

Food as Fuel - Meg Walsh

In order for our Muscles to keep on being our Motors we also need to make sure that Real Food is our Fuel.  In my work as a nutrition and wellness consultant, that's what I strive for in my own life and the lives of the people I work with. Interval Training on my Ride to Work - Nina Otter

I figure the backpack is more of a training tool than an annoyance. It holds my change of clothes, salad lunch and purse as it bounces around on my ride to work. It's mid-May, the weather is warm, roads have been clear of snow for a couple months, and interval training is underway.

Riding From my Doorstep - Andrew McCullough

I recently returned from Fayetteville, Arkansas, where I raced in the Joe Martin Stage Race, a 4-day stage race that is part of the National Racing Calendar (NRC), USA Cycling’s season-long professional road cycling series. It was an incredible experience, with the competition stacked with the top riders in the country. Despite a misfortunate mechanical issue and rough start to the race, I walked away with an amazing experience that has left me stronger and wiser about racing.

As much as I love traveling to distant places for these amazing professional races, I always enjoy…

Intense Green: Spring in Vermont - The Valentine Family

I love hiking with my family in Vermont during spring. It may be a little muddy and cold, but the blackflies and other biting insects aren't yet out, and the scenery is amazing. I love the way the woods open up and you can see the "bones" of the landscape, which at other times of the year are hidden under feet of snow or lush vegetation. Old stone walls, ledge rock, and views between and through almost-bare trees lure us out with our cameras. The fall foliage in Vermont gets all the attention, but I think…
