Vermont Handcyclist to Compete in 2012 Paralympic Games

The Olympics aren't over! The Paralympic Games started this week, and a Vermont cyclist is among the athletes competing. Paralympic athletes have a physical disability, but that doesn't stop them from training and competing in over 20 sports including archery, cycling, powerlifting, rowing, swimming, and much more.

Alicia Brelsford Dana, a native of Putney, Vermont, is in London right now and will compete next week as a handcyclist in the road cycling event. Handcycles are arm-powered; Brelsford Dana doesn't have use of her legs, but clearly her arms are as strong as her spirit.
